"Along with development, it is necessary to ensure protection of the environment. All countries across the globe should frame a uniform policy for protection and conservation of environment," he said.
Khattar was speaking after inaugurating a one-day workshop-cum-conference at Panchkula, near here, organised by State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Haryana State Pollution Control Board and SEARCH Foundation, an official release said.
Addressing the representatives of various departments and NGOs working in the field of environment conservation, the Chief Minister said the 'three Rs' of environment protection - reuse, reduce and recycle - should be adopted.
Stressing on protection of vultures, Khattar said, "In 2001, the then Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, got an action plan prepared for the protection of vultures, the population of which was declining fast. These birds, by keeping the environment clean, contribute significantly to the 'Swachhta' campaign.
