Khel Mahakumbh in Karnal from Sep 24

Karnal will host the opening ceremony of 'Khel Mahakumbh' on September 24, in which 10,000 people are expected to participate, officials said.
The closing ceremony will be organised at Hisar on October 28. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will be the chief guest on the occasion.
The event is a part of 'Swarna Jayanti' celebrations in Haryana.
This was mentioned during a meeting of the coordination committee which was presided over by Chief Secretary D S Dhesi here today, officials said.
District-level sports competitions will be held from September 26 to October 3 and state-level competitions would be held from October 5 to October 26.
To encourage maximum participation of people from rural and urban areas, state-level sports competitions will be organised in multiple categories which will include children under 14 years age group, elderly above 60 years age group and different-abled athletes, officials said.
Competitions in 22 sporting disciplines including archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, football, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, netball, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu will be organised.
Also, popular sports circle Kabaddi and Tug of War have been included to encourage local participation, officials said.
