Kidnap-cum-murder case: Accused sent to 2-day police custody

Two youths, arrested in connection with a kidnap-cum-murder case of a jeweller's 13-year-old son in East Delhi, were today remanded in two days police custody by a court here.
Accused Pratap Singh Sisodiya, 22, a family friend of the victim's father, and his accomplice Siddharth Sharma, 24, were produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjeev Kumar by the police which sought their custodial interrogation saying they needed to be questioned to unearth the conspiracy.
The court sent them to police custody till November 28.
According to the police, both the accused were arrested yesterday from Geeta Colony and Gandhi Nagar area here.
The victim, Utkarsh Verma, was kidnapped when he was dropped by his school's cab near his residence on November 18 and his body was found inside a drain the next morning.
The police said Sisodiya wanted to be an actor and he had even gone to Mumbai last year where he did an acting course. He was good at changing voices, a trick he used while making calls to the deceased's parents, it said.

The police said they had been suspecting an insider's role in the case and several people, including the former and current employees of the victim's father, were interrogated.
They said they narrowed down on Sisodiya whose mobile location was found to be close to the spots from where ransom calls were made.
Two ransom calls were received--first at 7:22 PM on the Utkarsh's mother's phone and another at 8:43 PM on his father Mukesh Verma's phone on the day of the kidnapping, the police said, adding, the accused had allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs one crore from them.
