The six-year-old Kuldeep was kidnapped on December 26 from the Hastpur area of the district by the three accused, identified as Jitendra, Harinder and Devikaran, they said.
The trio wanted to sell the child to a man, who had reportedly sought their help in order to adopt a boy as he had only one daughter and no sons.
The child has been handed over to his parents while the further probes are on, they added.
