Kidnapped minor boy's body recovered, uncle held

The body of a 10-year-old boy was recovered today from a field in Bhelai village of Bhojpur district, ten days after he was abducted for ransom by his own uncle, police said.
The accused Pawan Kumar was apprehended from a train in Varanasi by the police, who upon interrogation revealed that the minor boy identified as Dipanshu was buried in a field in Bhelai village of the district.
Kumar had kidnapped the minor boy from his house on May 26 and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from his kin, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Satyavir Singh said.
The SP said the accused had left a letter for the minor boy's kin asking them to leave the amount in a bag in a Varanasi-bound train.

The victim's family members informed the police about the kidnapping and ransom demand after which they were told to keep Rs five lakh in the said train and as soon as the abductor tried to lift the bag, the police in plain clothes arrested him, the SP said.
Kumar told the police that he had strangulated his nephew and dumped his body in a field, he said.
