Two kidnapped staff of a school in Koraput district were rescued and four persons, including a minor, were arrested in connection with the incident, the police said today.
A group of armed miscreants, including three women, had kidnapped the school-in-charge Sukanta Satapathy and librarian Chinmaya Parida of Auro Mira Vidya Mandir at Kechala on January 24.
"The two school staff were rescued unharmed last night. Four were arrested and our search is on to arrest the remaining members of the gang," said SP Awinash Kumar.
The police also seized two guns used in the crime from the arrested persons.
"The kidnappers had demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom. The miscreants had kept the two kidnapped persons in a hut at Podapadar village under Jeypore Sadar police limits. The kingpin of the group is still absconding," the SP said.
The school is being run by Auro Mira Service Society, New Delhi.
