A police patrolling team spotted the one-year-old boy, Laxman Murmu left abandoned on the road side near the hospital, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Alok Kumar said.
Two unidentified persons had kidnapped the boy, who was playing with his grand-mother Parvati Murmu in the hospital premises.
Parvati, a resident of Salboni in Gamariah in adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district, accompanied her daughter, Sombari Murmu, whose elder son Babulal Murmu was undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Hospital Superintendent, S S Prasad said the rescued boy was handed over to her mother by the police, was sound and healthy.
