Kids escape fire at playschool

Around 40 kids escaped a fire that struck after they left a playschool near Shadipur Metro station in central Delhi today afternoon.
According to the Fire department, the fire broke out around 1 PM at two buildings (W8, W9) near the Shadipur metro station.
"The fire started at the electronic store. Office furniture, records and computers were gutted in the fire. However no causalities were reported.
"The flames soon spread to a nearby playschool but thankfully around 40 children had left the facility approximately at 12.30 PM," said a fire official.
The children had come to participate at a summer camp at 'Natkhat' playschool where the incident took place. Some teachers, some students including the grandson of the owner of the playschool were rescued by locals and firefighters.
Fourteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was completely doused by 4 PM.
Police said the fire broke out after an air conditioner in the store caught fire after it got heated up.
A case under appropriate sections of IPC has been registered at Patel Nagar police station and further investigations are underway.
