A day after the gruesome killing of the wife of a BSP MLA from Uttar Pradesh in the New Jafrabad area of North East Delhi, police said those involved in the murder had most likely been known to the victim.
A senior police official associated with the probe said it did not appear that contract killers had carried out the killing as the victim was stabbed as well as shot at multiple times.
"A professional will use a sure shot way like pumping bullets into his target's body and kill him or her at one go.
"Also, it is not a case of loot as gold bangles on the deceased's hands remained untouched while no almirahs or boxes kept in the house were opened.
"The entry in the house was friendly and there were tea cups in the room where the body was found, suggesting that the victim knew her killers," the official said.
He said that a post mortem on the victim had confirmed there were 11 stab wounds on her body besides two gunshot wounds. The body has been handed over to the family of the victim.

Rehana (40), the second wife of Bulandshahar MLA Haji Aleem was found murdered yesterday morning in their New Jafrabad residence. Aleem was out of India on Haj pilgrimage.
The official added that Aleem had, meanwhile, returned and was in Bulandshahar today for the cremation of Rehana.
"Aleem has spoken to us over the phone saying he will extend all help in the investigation. He may join the probe on Friday," he said.
Meanwhile, four teams of local police, one from Crime Branch and another from Special Cell are investigating the murder.
A police source said statements of around two dozen people from the area, including Aleem's brother Haji Yunus, have been collected in a bid to crack the case.
Police have recovered two mobile phones belonging to Rehana which are being checked for any clues about the case.
The official said that around 40 CCTV cameras were installed by the local RWA in the New Jafrabad area but all of them have been defunct for the last six months.
There was a big knife kept with fruits in the same drawing room where Rehana's body was found but it was not used by the killers, suggesting that they had carried a knife with them which was used to stab her, he said.
Rehana married Aleem in 1990. The couple has no children. Aleem has 28 cases pending against him while his brother is named in 16 cases.
