A 12-feet long 'King Cobra' was caught and killed by tribals at a village here.
The venomous reptile sneaked into Lingavaram village under Devipatnam mandalam of Rampachodavaram, from the nearby forest area last evening which caused panic among locals who started running away from their huts, forest officials said.
Some locals informed the forest officials about the snake, but before their arrival, a few tribals caught the serpent and beat it to death with sticks, they said.
The King Cobra is one of the most dangerous snakes found predominantly in forests of India and southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, in view of another large snake seen recently in the area, the forest officials asked the villagers not to kill it and instead inform them about its presence.
