'King cobra' rescued, released into jungle

A 11-feet-long female King cobra, which entered a human habitat near Walayar on Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, was today rescued and released into the forest, officials said
The cobra was noticed by a villager who had gone to attend nature's call this morning, said Madukkarai Forest Range Officer, M Senthilkumar, who rushed to the spot with a snake catcher A R Ameen and other officials.
"This is the third King cobra the department is rescuing in the Madukkarai forest range," he said.
The cobra was found just 200 metres away from the habitat. It might have come in search of food and water besides small snakes.

The reptile was captured within a few minutes and later released into the jungle, Senthilkumar said.
