The kingpin of a gang involved in dealing with fake Indian currency notes was arrested from Malda in West Bengal by Delhi police.
The accused, Shahjahan Sheikh, was arrested during a joint operation by the Delhi police and Malda police from his house at Chhoto Mohodipur in Kaliachak last evening, Additional superintendent of police Abhishek Modi said.
The 45-year-old was involved in the racket for a long time and had three cases against him in Delhi and two more in other states though none in Malda.
Attempts to apprehend him twice earlier had failed, police said.
He was produced in a local court today which granted his transit remand to Delhi police.
