Flagging off the bicycles, she said, she took a cue from the programme introduced in neighbouring Tamil Nadu and embarked upon the scheme for effective policing.
"The credit for introduction of the scheme in Puducherry goes to Tamil Nadu police, to the Puducherry DGP S K Gautam and other police officials," Bedi said.
She further said, the beat police personnel were already trained by the Department of Tourism on various features of the sector, relating to Puducherry.
The personnel would undergo a refresher course conducted by the Tourism department, which will enable them to give proper information to those approaching them for guidance, Bedi said.
