Kolkata Knight Riders are not worried about the struggling form of their skipper Gautam Gambhir, newly-appointed KKR batting coach WV Raman said today.
"As regards to form, we can only know after the tournament gets underway. Because of the kind of experience he has, you will obviously expect Gautam to be one of the lead players," Raman said.
"That's why exactly, he has been retained as captain as well," Raman told reporters after the conclusion of KKR's two-day camp here.
Gambhir has been picked in the Rest of India squad for the five-day Irani Trophy match against Ranji champions Karnataka.
But Raman said IPL and Irani Trophy were different formats and Gambhir's performance in the latter tournament should not be a yardstick.
"It all depends on what is the need of the hour. I can't restrict myself to Gautam only. I've to work with everybody," he said.

Under the supervision of Raman and assistant coach Vijay Dahiya, KKR's two-day camp of 32 players concluded today at the JU Saltlake Campus ground.
Altogether 20 outstation cricketers, apart from 12 from Bengal, were called for the camp.
Among the Bengal players who took part in the camp were Sandipan Das, Sudip Chatterjee, Veer Pratap Singh, Debabrata Das, Arnab Nandi, Vivek Singh, Iresh Saxena and Alok Pratap Singh.
Haryana's Sachin Rana and Punjab's Siddharth Kaul were among the outstation players in action.
"They are all free players who are registered for the auction. We wanted to have a look at them before the auction," Raman said.
