KLA leader shot dead by unidentified persons

A self-styled 'commander-in- chief' of the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) was shot dead by unidentified persons at Kangpokpi district today, police said.
43-year-old Letkhopao Khongsai was gunned down at his residence at Saikul Bazaar in Kangpokpi district by unidentified persons at around 9.30 am, the police said.
KLA is a one of the more than 20 Kuki militant outfits which is observing suspension of operations with both the Centre and the state government.
The police have rushed to spot and has cordoned off the area and is conducting search operation.
