KMC asks RCGC to pay unpaid tax of Rs 7.71cr within 7 days

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) today sent a property tax notice to the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC), asking it to pay dues amounting to Rs 7.71 crore within seven days or face legal measures to recover them, a senior official said.
"RCGC's property tax is due since 2001 and we have sent them a seven-day notice in this regard," KMC Chief Manager, Revenue, Bhaskar Ghosh said.
"A total of Rs 7.71-crore of property tax for the two periods 2001-2006 and 2006 till 2014 is due from the RCGC and if it is not paid within seven days we would take legal action against the Club as per the KMC Act," Ghosh added.
Incidentally, KMC authorities today visited the RCGC and pasted a notice in this regard on the Club gate.
Mayor Sovan Chatterjee also said that the KMC would take legal steps against the club in order to recover the due amount.
