"I did horse riding for Arundhati. It is a very woman centric character, seldom seen in mainstream films," Koel told PTI here.
The Hemlock Society actor was seen in intense action sequences - sword fighting, equestrian and martial arts - in a never-before look and role in the film who vanquishes the demon Kaalrudra like the 'Mahisasurmordini'.
Director Sujit Mondal said from doing back flips to avoid a flying sword to performing ancient martial arts on her adversary, Koel has done all the physically arduous stunts by herself in the period look celluloid drama.
"If you think the character has mythological overtones, so be it," Mondal, one of the successful mainstream directors in Tollywood, said.
The film, having dazzling work of VFX and special effects, depicting the journey from one life to another, set a new benchmark in Tollywood,, Mondal said.
Arundhati, collaboration between Shree Venkatesh films, and top notch producer Nishpal Rane,will be released on May 30.
