Koirala's health improves significantly after radiotherapy

The health condition of Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, suffering from lung cancer, has improved significantly after he was administered with five rounds of radiotherapy, his top aide said today.
75-year-old Koirala has been undergoing treatment in New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre after he was diagnosed with lung cancer last month.
He has been recovering quickly and will be soon returning to his home, the sources said.
"The fifth round of radiotherapy, which was administered on Koirala on Thursday, was totally successful," said Basanta Gautam, chief secretary at the Prime Minister's Office.
"Koirala had undergone five rounds of radiotherapy over the past eight days and it has shown remarkable results", he added.

"The spot in his lungs has decreased as per the X ray analysis," said Koirala's personal physician Dr Kabirnath Yogi.

"Koirala, who had been suffering with bronchitis and lung cancer showed remarkable improvements in his health condition," Gautam said.
However, it is not yet clear when would the Prime Minister be discharged from the hospital.
Koirala has been in New York since June 16 for medical treatment after a spot was detected in one of his lungs during CT-scan test conducted in Kathmandu.
