Kolhapur, Mumbai win Kabaddi championship

Kolhapur won the boys title and Mumbai claimed the girls crown at the state-level kabaddi championship meet here.
Kolhapur boys defeated Sangli 5-3 to emerge winners in the finals played yesterday. The third position went to Central Mumbai and Ahmednagar.
In the girls segment, Mumbai got the better of Pune 12-9 while Ratnagiri stood third followed by Mumbai suburban team.
The 40th state-level Kabaddi meet, which concluded last night, was organised in Kudus of Wada taluka. Sixty-two teams from 24 districts participated in the competition.
State Kabaddi Association general secretary Ramesh Devadikar said that 20 players from the teams who crossed the pre quarterfinals stage would be selected and sent to a training camp that will be held from December 13-23.
Twelve players will be shortlisted to represent the state at the national meet in Buddi, Bangalore from December 26-29.
Those selected in Bangalore will go abroad for Asian events.
