The air service was launched with the inaugural flight of the Grand Cessna Caravan chartered helicopter carrying nine passengers touching down at the Purnia airport, DTDS Manager (Sales) Shyamal Chakraborty told reporters.
The air service will operate on a twice weekly basis on Tuesdays and Saturdays on the Kolkata-Purnia-Patna and Patna-Purnia-Kolkata routes, Chakraborty said.
The DTDS will be responsible for ticket booking and management of the air service by Spirit Air, he said.
The fare between Kolkata and Purnia flight has been fixed at Rs 3995 inclusive of all taxes and between Patna and Purnia Rs 3495, the DTDS official said.
Permission has been receive from the air force authorities for use of its airport in Purnia, he added.
