Kolkata to have 63 more AC Volvo buses under ten routes
Press Trust of India Kolkata The West Bengal Government has decided to strengthen air-conditioned Volvo bus service in the metropolis by introducing 63 more such luxury vehicles in ten different routes within April 20.
Announcing this here today, state's transport minister Madan Mitra said that the Calcutta State Transport Corporation would operate them and the proposed AC Volvo routes would mainly cover the areas potential for this improved service.
The fare structure would remain the same as per the existing Volvo services in the metropolis, he said.
"Such an improved Volvo service is a long-felt need for the people in the metropolis," the minister said.
The proposed routes for the service include Garia-Howrah, Santragachi-Ecospace, Kolkata Stn-Unitech (New Town), Garia-Airport, Thakurpukur-Santragachi, Parnasree-Saporji (New Town), Gof Green-Dakshineswar, Golf Green-Airport, New Town-Nabanna and Sakuntala Park-Kolkata Stn, the minister said.
