Kolkata is all set to host the 100th Indian Science Congress in the first week of the new year.
According to West Bengal government officials, President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, West Bengal governor M K Narayanan and chief minister Mamata Banerjee are likely to attend the inauguration ceremony of the event on January 3.
Secretary of science and technology, T Ramaswamy recently met governor M K Narayanan to discuss the matters related to the event scheduled to be held between January 3-7 next year.
Although, details of the invitee list will be made available only a week before the event, officials said, many Nobel Laureates are expected to attend the event. The government's science, technology and innovation policy is likely to be unveiled during the event by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is also the General President of the 100th Indian Science Congress.
