Enthused over the vibrant music culture of the city, especially among youngsters, the Alliance France will work towards promoting budding musicians of two countries.
"Kolkata has such a large number of bands. I find young people strumming guitars at public places and open concerts. The beats of music and pulse are the same for Parisians and Kolkatans. The dialect doesn't matter," Deputy Director Alliance France Alexander Blondei told PTI here.
He said the leading French learning institute will facilitate the exchange visits of young musicians from organizations like Academy for Musical Excellence and Communication (AMEC) to Paris and vice-versa.
"A whole lot of your musicians like Bickram Ghosh and Purbayan Chatterjee are already known names in French art circle. And Alliance France has always been promoting youngsters as well to enrich musical tradition of both nations," he said.
Now after seeing the 70 young students from your premier schools I can say we want to," he pointed out.
AMEC Musical Director and Founder Surendranath Majumder said the students were from different city schools and they performed music notes of Cliff Richards, ABBA, George Benson, Heal the World, Que Sera Sera and evergreen numbers like Nothing Gonna Change My Love for you.
Blondei sat through the AMEC's musical evening.
