Indraneil, who feels Dibakar Banerjee's Bomkesh will not be compared with Sajarur Kanta catering to different sensibilities of Hindi film audiences, however, feels it is a matter of pride that Bengali literary works are adapted for popular films.

Pointing out the differences between Sajarur Kanta and other recent Bomkesh films in Bengali, Indraneil said "First the pace is more leisurely built with lots of attention to details, Second unlike other Bomkesh films the director has contemporised the contents for the 2013-14 phase and Third we have a veteran sleuth essayed by a seasoned powerhorse like Dhritiman Chatterjee and his elderly assistant Ajit. This is unlike other flicks where we always see a much younger detective-assistant duo including Dibakar's."
Sajaruru Kanta, produced by Macneill Media Pvt Ltd, also casts Ray's favourite actor Pradip Mukherjee as the fictional sleuth icon Ajit.
