In a bizarre incident, a police constable was killed, while his three co-passengers escaped unhurt after their car fell into a roadside ditch here last night.
The deceased, Mukesh Shekhawat (34), was returning home with three friends when their car collided with a divider on the Jhalawar-Baran road and fell into a ditch, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Anantpura police station, Deshraj, said today.
Shekhawat died on the spot, while his friends emerged unscathed, he said.
Police reached the spot to find that only one of Shekhawat's friends, Ranku, was present there. The other two, Hariom Gujjar and Gurupreet Singh, had fled.
Gujjar and Singh are under suspicion as they fled from the spot and remain untraceable, the ASI said.
The mobile phone records of the four men are being checked to understand what actually happened, he added.
