The migrants expressed concern over prolonged power curtailments and said that it has adversely affected the students, as they were unable to continue their studies smoothly due to heat.
They appealed to Prime Minister to come to the rescue of the inmates of the migrant camp and direct the state government to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the facility.
"About 15,000 souls are putting up in Jagti Migrant Camp and there seems a grave conspiracy of the government to curb this community by implementing such long power curtailments on verbal instructions," JTC president Shadi Lal Pandita alleged during a joint meeting of the office bearers and members of JTC and Soan Kashmir Front J-K.
The members also alleged that number of inmates have died because of scorching heat in the absence of electricity.
"In past 10 days several inmates of Jagti Migrant Camp have suffered severe illness due to scorching heat," the members added.
The members also appealed for permanent rehabilitation of the community in Kashmir valley at a safe and secure place with grant of compensation for losses suffered by the community due to damages to their properties during past 23 years of migration.
