The Centre today convened a crucial meeting to finalise the quantum of Krishna river water to be shared between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and discuss the jurisdiction of the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB).
According to sources, officials of both states also discussed the various projects across the river falling in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
"We discussed the sharing of water from the Krishna between the two states with regard to the award of Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal I," said an official who participated in the meeting.
As per the Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal I award, Andhra Pradesh was allotted 811 TMC of water.
Officials of the two neighbouring states discussed the allocation of over 500 TMC water for Andhra Pradesh and nearly 280 TMC for Telangana, another official claimed while underlining that a final decision has not been taken on the issue.
All projects across the Krishna in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, including Prakasam Barrage, would come under the purview of KRMB, an official said.
