The misty dwellings will be host to numerous authors, writers, diplomats, critics, poets, historians, chefs, lawyers and a flock of audience as the debut edition of the Kumaon Literary Festival will kickoff from this October 23.
"Kumaon literary festival is an offshoot of a larger vision. We want to make the place a cultural hub. We're doing a series of initiatives and a literary festival form a natural component of this whole architecture of the things we are developing there," founder of the Kumaon Literary Festival, Sumant Batra said.
The literature festival has sessions panned out in tune with the backdrop of its hill setting. Talks and discussions on folklores of Kumaon, history of Kumaon, nature inspired poetry, animal conversation will be in affinity with the landscape of Uttarakhand.
With a beeline of eminent authors, cinema and media personalities to feature in the fest, the organisers have also put in offbeat programmes like 'A treak to Dhanachuli village', stargazing sessions, talk on food history in the schedule.
KLF has partnered with organisations like UN Women, Australian High Commission, French Institute of India for these initiatives which were unveiled at a curtain raiser event at the Taj Mahal Hotel here late last evening.
