The case relates to rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in suburban Kurla in 2010.
Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said the girl's father had written a letter to the High Court. According to the letter, he had filed a petition in the High Court which demanded transfer of the case to CBI without knowing the petition's content because he had been promised Rs five lakh or a flat in return by some persons.
"This petition was filed to sabotage the investigation and dispute the identification of the girl," Gharat said.
The petition was withdrawn when HC got the father's letter.

Gharat, however, said when police approached the High Court registry for a copy of the letter, the registry said it could not be given unless the trial court sought it.
The girl's body was found in a shanty in Nehru Nagar's Vatsalatai Nagar slum on June 19, 2010 after neighbours complained of foul smell. The girl had gone missing on June 5.
