The Kurukshetra district administration today ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of Sikh activist Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, who allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a water tank at his native village Thaska Ali.
The sub-divisional magistrate, Shahabad will conduct inquiry into his death case, officials said.
The 52-year-old had allegedly committed suicide last month by jumping off a water tank at his native village Thaska Ali in Kurukshetra district.
Notably, Khalsa had been demanding release of Sikh radicals who have completed their jail term but are still lodged in various prisons across the country.
Demanding a thorough probe, the family members and relatives of the deceased had alleged that Khalsa committed suicide under suspicious circumstances and that reason behind him taking the extreme step was not known.
The SDM has been asked to conduct an inquiry to know the cause of the suicide and then submit its report at the earliest, officials said.
