"KWID has been a true game changer and volume driver for Renault India with more than 1.30 lakh cars sold so far", the company said in a statement today.
Renault, which introduced KWID with a 0.8 litre engine in September 2014, expanded the variants, including one litre MT (manual transmission) and an Easy R-AMT (automatic variant).
"Renault grew its market share to 4.5 per cent at the end of 2016, achieving a robust three-digit growth over 2015", it said.
KWID would continue to be a volume driver for Renault to achieve its aggressive growth plans in India, it said.
Renault currently has a manufacturing unit at Oragadam near Chennai, with a total capacity of 4.80 lakh units per annum.
It has more than 270 sales and 230 service outlets across the country.
