"The latest in the field of ophthalmology is the Holo Eye Anatomy module for the cornea, published on the Microsoft Hololens. This is a sophisticated device worn on the head to help one see the human eye anatomy in 3D perspective," L V Prasad Eye Institute Founder and Chair, Dr Gullapalli N Rao, said in a release.
Elaborating on the development, he said the process started with an artist rendering the images of the models and then the models were coded on to the device and projected through the Hololens.
Dr Virender Sangwan, Director of Srujana Center for Innovation at L V Prasad Eye Institute said, "In ophthalmology, Mixed Reality will be the answer for patient education. Mixed Reality adds a whole new dimension to teaching and learning by allowing one to project information of 3D models in space and learn in a new perspective."
"Learning is made more experiential, enabling us to holistically study the cornea and also split individual parts to the component layers to study them in detail," he said.

"With the learning made more experiential, Human eye anatomy can be studied in greater detail," Das said.
He further said that it significantly increases the experience of learning and helps collaborate remotely in real time.
The team at L V Prasad Eye Institute is exploring the latest technologies to combat avoidable blindness in terms of skill development, education and surgical training and the Holo Eye Anatomy is another step in that direction and going forward it is aimed to build an application for every part of the eye, Rao added.
