The new campus is being launched to provide opportunities for the talented and committed youth of the state to develop new skills and build a career in the film industry, group's Managing Director Ramesh Prasad said.
Malayalam films have always been highly appreciated and holds a high place in Indian cinema, he said.
A two-year full time post graduate diploma programme in film direction and cinematography will be offered at the campus initially and courses in Editing and Sound design, besides more new courses would be launched in the subsequent academic years.
The students would also be encouraged to make documentary films as part of their curriculum and they would be encouraged to absorb all aspects of filmmaking in the first year so that they get to understand the true meansing of cinema as a collaborative effort.
The academy has received in principle acceptance from some of the biggest names in Indian cinema to join its Academic council and Advisory Board. It was in the process of appointing faculty for the Thiruvananthapuram campus including many renowned personalities from the Industry .
