Labourer electrocuted to death in under-construction plant

A labourer died today after coming in contact with live wire in GMR's under-construction power plant in Raipur district, police said.
The incident occurred when the victim Sunil Ram (25) was working in a section of the plant in Raikheda village under Tilda block, Raipur Superintendent of Police O P Pal said.
Soon after the incident, other labourers reached the spot and immediately informed the plant management. Sunil was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead, Pal said.
The deceased belonged to Bihar and was engaged in construction work at the plant under Simplex Company, as a contractual worker.
Simplex has been awarded a contract to do construction work at GMR's plant taking shape in Tida, located around 60 km from here.
Enraged over the incident, labourers demonstrated before the plant demanding adequate compensation to the victim and a job to his family member.

However, they were later pacified by the police and the plant management, the SP said.
A case has been registered in this connection, the SP said, adding that a probe is on.
Meanwhile, a plant spokesperson told PTI that Simplex Company has decided to provide a compensation of Rs 15 lakh to the family of the deceased.
