Rueing the content of Bengali serials has not evolved over the years, legendary Bengali actor Sabitri Chatterjee says there is lack of fresh concept barring a few.
"The same frequently trodden concepts for years are doing the rounds. There is not much infusion of new contemporary thoughts," the 'Bhrantibilas' actor told PTI on the sets of 'Ghete Gha' touted as a literary piece of work based on Sanjib Chattopadhyay's short stories.
Praising the treatment of 'Ghete Gha', Uttam Kumar's faourite co-star Sabitri said the unmistakble mischievous glint in the text made all his stories so likeable to the readers.
"He is one author and friend I like very much. His characters are so lovable and identifiable," the 'Mouchak' and 'Dhanyi Meye' actor said.
Script writer Padmanabho Dasgupta, having penned lines in the current crop of Bengali films, said, "I have tried to retain the typical traits of North Kolkata Bengalees, who still have not lost touch with their moorings and live in joint households, as portrayed by the famed author whose Lota Kambal and others are cult works."
The serial, sort of a collage with 256 episodes, will be aired on Akash Aath.
