Lahiri improves but still way behind at WGC

Anirban Lahiri handled the Blue Monster here much better with three birdies on the back nine, and it fetched him his best card of the week at two-over 74, but he continued to lie way down in tied 70th place at the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship.
The 27-year-old Indian, who has attracted a lot of attention, including a lot of praise from the captain of the International Team for President's Cup, Nick Price, is now 14-over for 54 holes after cards of 80, 76 and 74.
Other Asian Tour players, Thongchai Jaidee (80-73-76) was tied 69th, and David Lipsky (74-73-76) was tied 57th. Meanwhile, the leader from the start, J B Holmes' stayed way out in the front, despite starting and ending the day with a bogey.

Holmes also aced the par-3 fourth and as the weather worsened late in the round he added four straight birdies to shoot 2-under 70 and take a five-stroke lead with one round to go.
Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson, who also had a hole-in-one on the same hole, are tied for second, while Ryan Moore is another stroke back.
On a Trump National Doral that has played over par each of the first three days, Holmes has put on quite a display.
Holmes is one of the longest hitters in the game and has routinely used that to his advantage this week. He ranks third in driving distance at 320 yards a pop. He has also putted well and on Saturday needed just 26 putts.

He is now within hand-shaking distance of his first WGC title. Prior to this year, he hadn't played in this event since 2010.
