Anirban Lahiri shot his third successive round in the 60s with a two-under 68, which took him to eight-under 202 and tied-38th after the third round of the Wyndham Championship.
Lahiri stayed at the same spot with one more round to go in the last regular event of the PGA Tour this season.
The star Indian golfer, who is 178th on the FedExCup standings, will need to go back to KornFerry Series finals to try and regain his card for PGA Tour for 2019-20 season.
Meanwhile, Korea's Byeong Hun An was once again steady as he shot a bogey free four-under 66 to stay on top of the leaderboard.
An's 66 gave him a one-stroke lead after three rounds at the PGA TOUR's final event before the FedExCup Playoffs. He has played rounds of 62, 65 and 66.
Former Wyndham winner Webb Simpson and Brice Garnett were tied for second, with Simpson shooting a 65 and Garnett a 66. Ryan Armour was 15-under following a 65.

Jordan Spieth had three double-bogeys and a bogey during his 77 that had no birdies, and at 2-under for the tournament he missed the cut despite a 64 in first round.
Lahiri hit 13 of 18 greens in regulation during his third round.
He began strongly on the 418-yard par-4 first hole where his approach from 144 yards set him for a birdie to get to one-under. He added another on the 174-yard par-3 third when he hit it to just under 20 feet and holed a nice putt to go two-under.
He played six pars to turn in two-under at which point he was without any bogeys in the week. A birdie on 13th from just 11 feet meant he was nine-under for the week and bogey free for 49 holes.
He finally bogeyed one on the 501-yard par-4 14th. He hit the green in three after going into the rough off the tee. On the green he two-putted from 44 feet for a bogey. He got the shot back on 15th, when he went into the rough off his second shot, but came out so well from 73 feet to just three feet and birdied to get back to nine-under.
A bogey on the 406-yard par-4 17th, where he missed his par putt from four feet, saw him finishing with a three-putt bogey to move back to two-under for the round.
The 27-year-old South Korean An with three international victories has put himself in position to claim his first win on TOUR. An, who was at 17-under 193, has held or shared the lead after each of the first three rounds, is yet to drop a bogey.
Overall, it was yet another low-scoring day at Sedgefield Country Club.
For a while midway through An's round, six players were tied for the lead at 13 under.
Simpson, a native North Carolinian, who named his daughter Wyndham after his first career victory here in 2011, strung together three birdies around a bogey midway through his back nine to move to 16 under. He is in a good position to claim his fifth top-10 finish in six years at this tournament.
Viktor Hovland finished his season-best round of 64 with a birdie on the 18th after landing his 150-yard approach shot some three feet from the flagstick.
He was tied for fifth with J T Poston and Paul Casey at 14 under.
After winning the US Amateur last year, Hovland turned pro two months ago after tying for 12th at the US Open.
