Lajong win again, beat Sporting Clube this time

In their second consecutive win of the I-League, Shillong Lajong FC blanked Sporting Club De Goa 1-0 here today.
Brazilian striker Uilliams Bomfin Souza scored the all important goal for Lajong in 58th minute after compatriot Fabio Pena's shot was rebounded by rival custodian Arindam Bhattacharya.
With 7 points from four encounters, Lajong are now at the 5th place in the 9-team table while the Goan side slipped to the 6th place with four points in as many matches.
The visitors got the first chance of the encounter after the Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Densil Theobald ran into the box beating a couple of players but his shot was deflected wide.
Lajong skipper AIborlang Khongjee then delivered a pass to Rupert Nongrum on the right flank but the winger's volley landed straight at the keeper's hands.
It was followed by a number of raids but the Reds failed to score.

To counter this, Sporting Club De Goa players started providing long balls to Odafa Okolie but the Nigerian failed to find the target.
A few minutes after the break, however, it was Odafa who almost scored but his long ranger went a few yards wide off the post.
Three minutes later, the hosts scored the winner.
After conceding the goal, Sporting Clube upped the ante and Odafa again got a chance but it was not to be the Nigerian's day.
