Lalit Kala Akademi Secretary Sudhakar Sharma has been suspended after disciplinary proceeding has been contemplated against him in connection with various administrative lapses and financial irregularities.
Sharma was reinstated as the Secretary of India's prestigious academy for fine arts in October 2015.
"...A disciplinary proceeding against Lalit Kala Akademi (LKA) Secretary Sudhakar Sharma is contemplated in respect of various charges post resumption of charge by him as the Secretary since October 16, 2015. Now, therefore, the Disciplinary Authority...Hereby places Sharma under suspension with immediate effect," an office order of the Akademi said.
The order, dated January 9 and signed by LKA Administrator C S Krishna Setty, further said that during Sharma's suspension period, he should not leave the headquarters without obtaining the permission for it.
Sharma has been reportedly dismissed from the Akademi twice earlier and still faces a series of inquiries.
Yesterday, Deputy Secretary in Culture Ministry Bandana Banerjee had reportedly written a letter to Setty noting a disciplinary proceeding is contemplated against Sharma in respect of certain serious administrative lapses and financial irregularities and he be placed under suspension with immediate effect.
The order copies was marked to Sharma and the Joint Secretary (Akademi Division) in the Ministry of Culture.
