Land acquired for sez to be used for Smart City project

Puducherry Administration has approved of the transfer of around 303 hectare of land acquired by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce in Sedarapet and Karasur villages here for setting up Special Economic zone to Oulgaret Municipality for implementation of the Smart City Mission.
A notification of the Industries and Commerce Directorate said that the land measuring 303.14 hectare would be used for the green field development project under Smart City mission in the two villages.
Earlier the government had acquired the farm lands for the SEZ project.
But it had now been decided to transfer the site to the municipality for the smart city mission.
The notification said that if the land is not used for the specific purpose for which it has been transferred now within a period of five years the land should be returned to the Directorate of Industries and Commerce.
The transfer has been effected on no profit no loss basis, the notification said.

The allottee (party) should commence and complete
construction of the building on the land within one year from the date of allotment.
"Violation of any conditions of the allotment, the alienation/lease shall automatically stand terminated/cancelled and the land along with the building shall be resumed by the government without payment of any cost for any structures," the order stated.
The order also stipulates that the allotted land should be used only for political purposes and not any commercial activity.
