Land acquisition in Gurgaon for Def Univ approved

The Union Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, decided the land will be acquired in villages Binola and Bilaspur in Gurgaon District of Haryana at a cost of Rs 162 crore.

"INDU will undertake long-term defence and strategic studies and create a synergy between the academic community and government functionaries," an official release said.

The University will promote policy-oriented research on all aspects relating to national security as an input to strategic national policy making, it added.

Besides educating people on aspects of national security and military strategy, the University will encourage awareness of national security issues by reaching out to scholars and an audience beyond the official machinery, the release said. PTI AD
