Land Bill aims for country's overall development: Birender
Press Trust of India Jind Accusing the Opposition of misleading people on the Land Acquisition Bill, Union Minister Birender Singh today said that the proposed legislation will ensure the welfare of the farmers and overall development of the country.
The legislation would benefit the farmers and farm labourers, and give a new direction for overall development of the country, the Union Rural Development Minister said on the sidelines of a programme at Rajiv Gandhi College here.
Only 27 acres of land in Punjab and 47 acres in Haryana were acquired under the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, which came into force from January 1, 2014, causing many welfare projects to slow down, Singh said.
Praising the Narendra Modi Government, Singh said that various programmes like the accident insurance scheme and Sukanya Yojna have been initiated for the welfare of people of all sections of the society.
