The government's decision against re-issuing the land ordinance has boosted the morale of the Congress ahead of the Assembly elections in Bihar. The party had dubbed the Modi government as 'anti-farmer' and 'pro-corporate'.
"The determination shown by Soniaji (and) Rahulji and the Congress finally forced (Prime Minister) Modi to backtrack. Farmers saved from land sharks," Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh had tweeted last week.
