Justice V K Shali took a strong note of the submission of the lawyer, appearing for accused advocate Anil, that he did not attempt to grab the plot which was purchased by him after paying Rs 97 lakh to the previous owner.
"How the lawyer in question got such a huge sum of money? Justice Shali said adding "you (lawyer) ask the accused to file his income tax returns as it amounted to misconduct under the Advocates Act."
The court then asked Delhi police to file a status report and fixed the matter for hearing on September 17.
An FIR was filed on July 31 by Brij Bhushan, a former General Manager of Punjab National Bank, alleging Anil and three others, including Sharwan and Amreek Singh, came to his plot and threatened him with an aim to grab his plot.
The complainant also said the plot was purchased by his mother.
While Sharwan and Amreek were arrested from the spot, the rest two, including Anil, fled.
