Land surveyor held on graft charge

A surveyor, attached to Palladam Taluk office in nearby Tirupur District, was arrested today for allegedly demanding and accepting a brine of Rs 8,000 for an official work, police said.
Karuppaiah was arrested on a complaint from one Dhandapani with Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) that the former was demanding Rs.8,000 to measure his land and also to help in removing some names from the title deed, they said.
DVAC laid a trap and arrested Karuppaiah when he was receiving the money, police added.
