The Karuna International Buddhist Conference for Buddhist Tamils, to be held on May 20, will be the first of its kind, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said today.
Wickremesinghe said that he had sent a special representative to invite the Sankarcharya of Kanchipuram to attend the event.
The conference will be attended by 60-70 delegates from India while Sri Lanka will be represented by 300 delegates, the Prime Minister said.
The conference is being organised to foster Tamil-Buddhist relationship in Buddhist-majority Sri Lanka.
