Two Sri Lankan policemen have been arrested for the killing of a fisherman in northern Jaffna following an investigation.
A 27-year-old fisherman was killed and another was injured when two unidentified gunmen shot at them at Ariyalai in Jaffna on October 22. The area has a presence of the Army and the police's elite Special Task Force (STF).
The arrested were later identified as a sub inspector and a constable of the STF.
The fisherman from the Uthayapuram village of Ariyalai East died while his friend who was travelling with him on a motorcycle at the time of the shooting said he was shot from behind by two bike-borne persons.
