Laser national coastal sailing championship concludes

Chennai Sailing Academy's Laser National Coastal Sailing Championships concluded here today with all three fleets completing their full quota of 12 races in the series.
This allows sailors to discard their worst two scores.
Consequently sailors leading the table till yesterday found themselves being displaced by others, who had more consistent results rather than more winning positions.
On a day that had beautiful race conditions that tested the skill of sailors with a constant wind from the South East that started off at 6 to 8 knots and settled to 6 knots and a strong current that made sure that there were plenty of waves for the sailors to get over.

Jasvir Singh of AYN, who despite consistently performing during the series, got to discard both his worst scores to move to the top of the table. Dharmendar Singh had problems yesterday due to low winds but changed some settings on his boat and sail to get better boat speed to finish ahead in the tenth race of the series.
However, Jasvir sailed brilliantly to finish ahead in the next race and win the championships in the Laser Standard fleet. Dharmendar had to be content with a second while B K Rout of EMESA came in third in the fleet.
In the Radial fleet, Rufus Kani Patrick of TNSA sailed consistently well today to comprehensively win the Championships in the fleet. Ramesh Kumar of AYN, who was close to Rufus till yesterday and was battling a viral infection, found himself not only under the weather but also not up to the conditions of low wind and strong tide. Shekar Yadav of INWTC MB finished third.

In the 4.7 fleet, there was a keen tussle between Vir Amar Menon of RMYC and Vishnu Saravanan of CESC who were separated by just two points.
