The 86-year-old singer took to Twitter to say happy birthday to the "Umrao Jaan" music director.
"Namaskar. Today is the birthday of talented music composer Khayyam sahab. I give my best wishes to him," she wrote.
Lata also shared a link of song "Dikhayi Diye Yun Ke Bekhud Kiya", composed by the veteran composer with her in the vocals.
Khayyam began his musical journey as an assistant to famous Punjabi composer Baba Chishti.
He made his Bollywood debut in 1948 as a part of Sharmaji-Varmaji composer duo with "Heer Ranjha", but got recognition as solo music director with Raj Kapoor starrer, "Phir Subha Hogi".
