Lava looks to tap Eastern market, increase footprint

Domestic handset maker Lava International, owner of 'Lava' and 'Xolo' brands, is expanding its distributor network in the Eastern region, a company official said today.
"Eastern region is showing highest growth among other regions. While 18 per cent of our sales volume comes from the East, we are targeting at 25 per cent in near future," Lava business unit head (East) Sandeep Dongre said here.
There are some 20,000-odd outlets in the region, of which the company has been able to reach out to 10,000, the company said, adding that it has increased the number of distributors to 140 from 90 this year in the region.
For Lava, the Western region contributes around 28 per cent of sales volume, while the UP and Northern region (which includes Bihar) accounts for around 22-24 per cent.
The Southern states account for close to 15 per cent of its sales.
The Eastern region for Lava includes the seven North-Eastern states - Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, apart from Sikkim, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha.

The company would increase its distributor network and deepen footprint in covering the market.
Lava claimed that it was among the top three Indian vendors, which reported sales of Rs 4,900 crore in the country, with 10 per cent market share.
The total revenue, including international operation, was around Rs 7,000 crore, which includes revenue from Lava China and Xolo.
